Issue #10 How Styling Can Heal Your Relationship with Your Body
This Week in My Wardrobe: Style Therapy in Your 30s (Take the Quiz) & 2025 Valentine’s Looks You’ll Love
I’ll never forget the day I stood in front of my closet, staring at a pile of clothes that no longer felt like me. It was as if my wardrobe had been curated by a past version of myself, one who thought she had it all figured out. But here I was, 32, post-breakup, straddling the line between I still got it and Who even am I?
This is the reality of fashion in our 30s. It’s no longer just about looking good; it’s about feeling right. The mini dresses of our 20s might still fit, but do they fit our lives? The blazers we bought to “look professional” don’t quite match the woman we’re becoming. And don’t get me started on jeans, why is finding the right pair basically a spiritual journey?
Fashion isn’t just fabric, it’s feeling. When done right, it doesn’t just sit on our bodies, it heals them.
How Can Fashion Heal?
We’ve been taught to view our bodies as projects, something to shrink, sculpt, or “fix” with the right trend. But what if we flipped the script? What if, instead of chasing a version of ourselves that doesn’t exist yet, we dressed for the person we already are?
That’s where true style transformation begins. I’ve seen it happen:
• A woman going through a divorce who traded in her “perfect wife” wardrobe for bold, unapologetic power dressing.
• A new mum who let go of the pressure to “bounce back” and embraced effortless, chic pieces that made her feel at home in her body.
• A woman stepping into a leadership role who realised her old outfits made her feel small, so she built a wardrobe that helped her own every room she walked into.
It isn’t just about looking the part; but feeling at home in your own skin, rewriting the way you see yourself in the mirror.
This is where my Wardrobe Architect method comes in. (Think of me as the best friend who won’t let you settle for an “it’ll do” outfit.) It’s a styling approach that isn’t about trends but about you, your life, your body, your confidence.
The Wardrobe Architect Method: The Secret to a Closet That Works
Most women don’t struggle with fashion because they’re bad at style. They struggle because they’re missing a clear formula. And no, I’m not talking about stuffing you into one of those basic four “style types.” Fashion isn’t a personality quiz, and you are not a box.
Instead, here’s how you actually get your wardrobe together:
1. Lifestyle Profiling – What does your life actually look like? Your closet should reflect you, not some Instagram fantasy.
2. Outfit Formulas – Define a go-to look for every part of your life where you spend 20% of your time or more.
3. Wardrobe Edit – Once you have your formulas, anything that doesn’t fit goes. No more “but maybe one day” clutter.
4. Ready-to-Wear Lookbook – We take what’s left and turn it into a mix-and-match dream. Because getting dressed should feel like second nature, not a daily battle.
For my client Alice, this process changed everything.
She moved from Sri Lanka to England, and suddenly, her wardrobe, once perfectly aligned with her life, felt completely off. The vibrant prints, the breezy silhouettes, the effortless way she used to dress? No longer practical for grey mornings by the sea. She wasn’t just struggling with what to wear, she was struggling with feeling at home in her own style.
And here’s the thing: Alice isn’t alone. So many women in their 30s wake up one day and realise their closet is full of clothes but lacks direction. Maybe life changed, a new country, a new job, a new baby, or a new mindset. Maybe the clothes that once felt like you now feel like a bad memory of someone you used to be.
This is where most people get stuck. They try to fix it with a Zara haul, a Pinterest binge, or copying that one influencer who seems to have it all figured out. But here’s the truth: Your wardrobe chaos isn’t about needing more clothes. It’s about needing more clarity.
Alice invested in a personal stylist (hi, that’s me), and in four hours, we moved her from style confusion to effortless confidence using my Wardrobe Architect Method, a system designed to help you find yourself through your clothes.
We defined her style DNA by looking at the icons she naturally gravitated toward, Kate Moss, Jennifer Connelly, Tanya Burr. The pattern was obvious (to me, anyway):
• A deep love for ‘90s aesthetics
• An effortlessly chic approach to dressing (which, fun fact, is a mindset, not a style)
• A wardrobe grounded in black
From there, it was easy to build her outfit formulas. Her relaxed seaside lifestyle? Think slip dresses layered with chunky knits. Dinner parties? A slinky all-black number with strappy heels. Theatre date nights? A statement coat and killer silver boots. The best part? With just a few accessory swaps, her day looks could turn into night looks seamlessly.
Four hours later, her wardrobe went from overwhelming to effortless. And mornings? They now smell like fresh air and coffee instead of panic and frustration.

Your results will reveal if you’re:
✨ Mostly A’s – The Classic Minimalist
Your style is rooted in the belief that less is more. You gravitate toward clean lines, neutral tones, and timeless silhouettes that exude quiet confidence. Your wardrobe is a sanctuary, every piece has a purpose, every outfit feels intentional. This isn’t about playing it safe; but knowing exactly what works for you and refining it to perfection.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by trends or clutter, embracing minimalism allows you to strip away the noise and focus on what truly makes you feel powerful. Keep leaning into structured blazers, quality fabrics, and pieces that stand the test of time. Your style isn’t just about looking polished, it’s about cultivating a sense of calm and control in your everyday life.
✨ Mostly B’s – Effortlessly Chic
You make style look easy, because for you, it is. You don’t chase trends; you create an aesthetic that feels natural, understated, and endlessly wearable. Your love for neutral tones and relaxed tailoring is a reflection of how you approach life: balanced, intentional, and with an innate sense of ease. If you’ve ever struggled with feeling “put together” but not overdone, you’re already on the right path.
Your wardrobe thrives on elevated basics, think a great cashmere sweater, relaxed denim, and elegant flats, paired with subtle statement pieces that make your look unique. Style isn’t about impressing others; it’s about feeling at home in your own skin, and your wardrobe is the perfect extension of that.
✨ Mostly C’s – The Modern Trendsetter
You live at the intersection of classic and contemporary, bold enough to embrace new styles but wise enough to balance them with wearable staples. Your wardrobe tells a story of self-expression, excitement, and confidence. You know that fashion is cyclical, but your secret weapon is the way you blend trends with timeless pieces, making them feel entirely your own. If you’ve ever struggled with feeling like you have “too many styles,” you’re not lost, you’re simply dynamic.
The key is refining your signature look by investing in staple pieces (like a perfect tailored blazer or luxe boots) while keeping space for the playful, statement items that light you up. Your style is your superpower, wear it boldly.
✨ Mostly D’s – The Relaxed Sophisticate
You prove that comfort and style are not mutually exclusive. Your wardrobe is curated with high-quality, versatile pieces that allow you to move through life with ease, without ever sacrificing elegance. You’re drawn to soft tailoring, luxurious fabrics, and a neutral color palette that ensures everything works together effortlessly.
If you’ve ever felt torn between dressing up and staying comfortable, know this: you don’t have to choose. Your style thrives on elevated essentials, think structured knits, tailored trousers, and elegant flats, that allow you to feel both polished and at ease. Your wardrobe isn’t just about clothes; it’s about creating a lifestyle that aligns with your values of ease, refinement, and confidence.
At its core, personal style is about alignment, feeling at home in your clothes, comfortable in your skin, and empowered in your daily life. Your wardrobe should be a tool for self-care, not a source of stress. No matter where you are in your style journey, clarity is the first step toward a wardrobe (and a mindset) that truly serves you.
This is just the starting point, a way to bring more clarity to your personal style and to start using your wardrobe as a well-being tool. The key now is to take what you’ve discovered and build outfit formulas that fit your life.

Valentine’s Day, But Make It Fashion
Love is in the air, and whether you’re spending Valentine’s with your long-term love, a future boyfriend, or just treating yourself, I made sure your outfit is the last thing you have to stress about.
I’ve created three Valentine’s Day outfit guides for every possible scenario, because the real question isn’t who you’re spending it with, it’s what you’re wearing while doing it.
❤️ For a romantic dinner with your hubby – The timeless, seductive elegance of a silky slip dress + heels that say “I am the moment.”
💋 For dating your future boyfriend – A “cool girl” effortless look that makes you feel unstoppable (but low-key makes him sweat a little).
💘 For a solo self-love night – Cozy chic that says “I love myself enough to dress up for me.”
