💌 Issue #4 - Finding Yourself in Your Closet
This Week in My Wardrobe: Healing Through Style, The Material Of The Moment, and Creative Breakthroughs
Hello, lovelies! Welcome to Issue #4, where we’re diving into what it truly means to connect with ourselves through our wardrobes. Last week, as I found myself in eucalyptus-scented steam rooms, sipping endless cups of green tea on a spa retreat, I couldn’t stop reflecting on a recent client experience. She was a vibrant, interesting woman, yet she introduced herself to me as “fat”, one small word, attempting to shrink her whole essence. It hit me hard.
She left my services, and while I respected her decision, I felt compelled to reach out, which, years ago, I wouldn’t have done. But now, my work isn’t just about styling or finding the “perfect look.” It’s about connecting women to themselves, to beauty that doesn’t need to be “slimmed down” or “toned up.” And it’s a purpose I care about deeply, because style is just a way to fast-track how we see ourselves, and ultimately, how we heal.
So, How Can We Heal Through Our Clothes?
When you create a wardrobe around who you are, you start embracing all of it: your quirks, your history, your mood swings, and, yes, even the messy mornings. You begin to realise it’s not about trying to look like someone else or shape-shifting to fit the trend. But finding beauty in what’s real and seeing what happens when you actually love it.
This approach connects right back to my Wardrobe Architect Method, which goes way deeper than “outfit building.” We start by aligning your style to your real life, not the life you think you should have. Because, let’s be honest, we’re not all out here running to galas in sequins (well, not every night). We’re managing careers, relationships, families, and ourselves. It’s about dressing for the version of you who exists today, while giving a little nod to the “you” you want to become.
Fast-Tracking Change, One Outfit at a Time
Ever noticed how actors step into a role? They immerse themselves so deeply that the character becomes second nature. Dressing with intention can do the same. When you choose outfits that embody your most confident self, you’re sending your brain a subtle memo: This is who I am. You’re not faking it; you’re reclaiming it. Those clothes become a kind of mental rehearsal. Over time, you’ll feel the change within yourself, not just on the outside.
Style Tip: Creating a Wardrobe That Loves You Back
You’d be amazed at how little money it takes to create a wardrobe that feels rich and versatile. You don’t need to splurge on endless pieces. Here’s what you need instead:
Vision Over Volume: When you’re clear about who you are and what you want, it’s amazing how easily you can pull looks together without endless options.
Mix & Match Magic: Learn to love pieces that speak to each other. Think less about “new” and more about making the most of what’s already there.
Embrace Imperfections: Those clothes that make you feel slightly daring? Keep those. They’re the pieces that reflect you.
The real magic isn’t in the “never repeat an outfit” rule; it’s about repeating the right ones, the ones that feel as though they were made for you.

Wardrobe Inspirations: November’s Cozy Layers
As the days get shorter and the air crisper, November calls for textures that comfort and styles that feel like a warm embrace. This week, I’ve been leaning into oversized knits, wool scarves, and coats that feel like portable blankets, a true Londoner’s answer to embracing the cold while staying chic.
Texture and Trends: Material of the Moment - Suede
Apparently, suede is having a major moment this season. And who am I to argue? It’s classic, warm, and instantly elevates any outfit. My tip for Europe streets in November? Opt for a suede belt or bag rather than head-to-toe suede; that way, you get the softness without the weather worries. Pair it with structured coats or boots for a chic but grounded look.
Style Tip: Use suede accents to add a hint of luxury to an otherwise simple outfit. It’s like putting on your favourite jewelry, understated, but it changes the whole feel.
Here are my top five picks to add just a hint of that soft, luxe texture to your wardrobe:
Suede Belt – The understated hero of any outfit. Cinch it over a coat or layer it on high-waisted trousers for a polished, pulled-together vibe.
Structured Suede Bag – Think boxy shapes with subtle hardware. It’s refined but playful and pairs beautifully with chunky knits or tailored blazers. Opt for neutral tones, but if you're daring, a rich burgundy is simply divine.
Ankle Boots – Suede ankle boots add a soft edge to your look without overpowering it. Choose a heeled version for a sleek lift, or go flat if you’re feeling city-chic and practical.
Suede Gloves – Perfectly functional and fabulously vintage. They’re warm, they’re luxe, and they’ll make you feel like you’re in a 1950s movie scene, can’t argue with that.
Statement Earrings with Suede Accents – Unexpected, yes, but they bring a soft touch near your face and balance out an outfit without needing much else.
Suede Blazer – A suede blazer is the statement piece that effortlessly elevates any look. It’s polished yet soft, giving that perfect mix of structure and warmth. Throw it over a simple tee and jeans or a sleek turtleneck for an outfit that looks luxe without even trying.
Pop one or two of these into rotation, and you’re good to go! Remember, it’s not about drowning in suede; it’s about that perfect hint, like adding your favorite lipstick or a spritz of perfume.
🌟 Inspiration of the Week: Screenshots, Editorial PhotoShoots & What’s Sparking My Creativity
So, there I was, minding my own business on the Tube, when I stumbled upon a gem, a visual roadmap titled “How to Make Friends in Your 30s” that had me laughing out loud in that awkward, people-are-staring kind of way. And let’s be honest, who hasn’t felt the weirdness of trying to make friends as an adult? It’s like dating without the wine and flirting, and often just as messy.
This flowchart is pure genius, complete with options like joining a gym only to face the dreaded “fart during HIIT workout” situation or the classic “awkward silence after making eye contact.” Spoiler alert: the flowchart’s final destination? Giving up and just traveling with a bunch of strangers. (I mean, if that isn’t the ultimate metaphor for adult friendships, what is?)
Seeing this on my commute got me thinking about the connections we try to make, not just with people but with our wardrobes. Each outfit is like an introduction to who we are that day, a visual handshake, a little “hello, world.” Just like trying to find that one friend who “gets it,” we’re searching for pieces in our closet that just click with us, that make us feel understood and seen.
And maybe that’s why we’re all on this little journey, fumbling through awkward silences, outfit misfires, and cough-induced exits, hoping that somewhere along the way, we find the people, and the clothes, that feel just right. So, next time you’re wondering how to “make friends with your wardrobe,” think of this as a reminder that the awkwardness, the randomness, and the hilarity of it all are just part of the charm.
Happy exploring, friends (both old and new)!
Editorial Dream: My Artells Fashion Magazine Publication
Now, on a slightly different note…
I recently had a photoshoot published in Artells Fashion Magazine, and I finally got to let my creativity run wild! The concept was this dreamy, almost futuristic mix of crochet and 3-D printed couture, blending age-old craft with tomorrow’s tech.
Creating for an editorial shoot is a whole different world, there are no boundaries, no set style preferences. You’re free to experiment, to dream up a story and then bring it to life visually. My clients are usually looking for wardrobes that fit into their real lives, which I love helping with. But stepping into this editorial world reminded me of the beauty in pure creativity, no limits, just expression.

So, how can you bring a little of this editorial magic into your wardrobe? Start with one rule-breaker, something a bit unexpected. Maybe it’s a pair of statement earrings with your favorite knit sweater, or a vintage piece mixed into a modern outfit. Creativity and authenticity? That’s where real style lives. And it all starts with self-acceptance.
Final Thoughts: Finding Yourself Through Style
In the end, my work is about more than helping women look stylish. It’s about showing them how to show up as they are and own it. It’s about giving women the confidence to fill spaces with their unique energy, not waiting on brands or trends to tell us we’re “enough.” Because we are. More than enough, in fact.
So this week, as you’re choosing what to wear, go for something that feels like it’s cheering you on. Dress like the most unapologetic version of yourself and remind the world, and yourself, that you’re here to be seen, quirks and all.
November can be a month of introspection, a little pause before the holiday rush begins. As the layers go on, remember that each piece you choose is an opportunity to express something real about yourself. There’s no rush to “get it right”, your style is as dynamic and evolving as you are.
Whether you’re experimenting with textures, embracing new colours, or just trying to stay warm and dry (hello, London weather), remember that true style comes from self-acceptance. You don’t need a closet full of clothes to feel put together. You just need a few items that make you feel like your truest self, whoever that may be this November.
Here’s to finding ourselves, one cozy layer at a time.
Until next week, stay inspired and dress with purpose. And if you’re trying to make friends (at the gym, at a gig, or just by the kettle at work), know that you’re not alone in the adventure.
